The Bal’Te Soon is an ancient tower shield carved entirely from Valerian crystal and gilded in a primitive tritonium alloy. These shields were common during the age of the Stell and were typically used by point men to shield a faction against oncoming pulsor fire.
Background: Inscriptions on the shield suggest the point man who wielded the Bal’Te Soon betrayed his faction in a desperate attempt to earn favour with the enemy. Having been caught in a foxhole and surrounded on all sides, the faction committed themselves to one last act of defiance. But in their final moment, as the faction emerged, the pointman dropped to the ground, exposing his comrades to enemy fire. Disgusted with this act of cowardice, the enemy flayed the pointman and inscribed his deeds upon this shield.
Ability: A faction leader may swap any single fighter from their faction for an opposing faction member.
Gameplay: Faction leaders who wish to play the Bal’Te Soon artefact must declare their intention to the Game Master before the beginning of a match and at the time of declaring their fighters. The Game Master will then disclose the names of the opposing fighters but not their sequence. Following this, the faction leader must elect a fighter from the opposing team to be swapped with one of their own fighters. At the same time, the faction leader will also need to provide a fourth fighter for their bout. The opposing fighter will effectively be benched for the assault/repel. The Game Master will then advise opposing faction of the change.
Conditions: The Bal’Te Soon may be randomly assigned for any and all districts.
